Is L’Oreal communicating right to the women of India?

L’Oréal has been present in India for 18 years and is considered a young player in the cosmetics market. However, it is the fastest growing beauty company with an annual average of +30.2% and representation in 750,000 points of sale. The Group is the third leading operator in the Indian cosmetics market with a 8% market share in the urban areas and sales of nearly €198 million in 2011.

In order to cater to this market optimally, the cosmetics Group has launched several brands covering various product categories, including: mass consumer brands Garnier, L’Oréal Paris and Maybelline New York; luxury brands Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, Kiehl’s, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani and Diesel; professional brands like L’Oréal Professionnel, Matrix, Kérastase and Kéraskin Esthetics for salons and pharmacy brands Vichy and La Roche-Posay.

But is it communicating its message right?

Nisha Umashankar: Supermodel and Actor

” L’Oréal is my Favourite Brand . I don’t like comparing L’Oréal with any other Brands , for the fact most of the top brands are owned by L’Oréal and they are always best in the market .

I have been using L’Oréal cosmetics and Hair products from past 4years and I have experienced the best result out of it .. Being a Celebrity we have a responsibility to carry ourselves with perfection as we are role models for most of the people and I have achieved it because my skin is flawless and my hair is very smooth and shiny .

I have used many other brands before for my hair & my face but was never happy , since my face was oily , I tend to get pimples and rashes very quickly but L’Oréal Cosmetics are really the best & suitable for any skin type. L’Oréal Hair products are really fantabulous and harmless . I definitely recommend everyone to use L’Oréal not just because it’s a Premium product but it’s worth your money”.

Shivani Sharma, Animal Rights Activist

“I absolutely loved products honestly but I read somewhere long back that they test on animals. That’s when I discontinued.”

Loreal is really overpriced and charged around 1000 bucks for a lipstick. They are really pigmented, but they stain your lips. Why would I buy this for 1000 bucks and not maybe MAC if I want to buy something expensive?
If I want something budget, I would buy Maybelline New York
I initially got attracted to L’Oreal because of the cool brand ambassadors it has. But this goes to show how you should never judge a book by its cover

Very smooth ,good texture ,pigmented but doesn’t stay more than 2 to max 3 hours ..switched to Mac . Cos could source it from U.S and was reasonable too for the quality it provides. I find L’oreal slightly over priced . The hair color too – dosen’t stay for more than three weeks!

L’Oreal probably needs better communication to reach out to it’s target audience!
