“Go back to India. You curry-assed people are ruining this country”. Are Indians face increasing backlash as the strong growth rate starts to give natives the jitters?

“Go back to India

India’s increased growth rate and its emergence as one of the top economies of the world, means that Indians in foreign geographies are increasingly facing a backlash from the natives – as they fear a takeover from people of Indian origin.

In a recent incident, a dinner with friends turned into a frightening experience for some individuals of Indian origin. As they finished dinner and headed towards their cars they were confronted with a woman, later  identified as Esmi Uptown – who began to aggressively confront the peaceful group.

“You are f*cking Indians, that’s why” was her tirade. “They come to America because they want a better life, but they’re obviously not living a great life in India” she continued.

She interestingly identified herself as a Mexican-American,  but claimed to be ‘superior’ as she was born in the USA.

She then went on to criticize the Indian accent.

“Everywhere I f*cking go, you Indians are everywhere” she continued!

This turned into a physical assault as Esmi Uptown began to assault the peaceful group of friends who had not connect with her.

The situation got further dangerous, as it seems she was pulling out a weapon to assault the group.

Gun laws in Texas are quite lax. Generally, to carry a handgun in public in Texas without an LTC, a person must be at least 21 years old. Not have a prior felony conviction as described in Texas Penal Code Section. Not have a recent conviction for certain types of misdemeanors as described in Texas Penal Code Sections.

As India shifts from a low income economy, to a high growth economy there seem to increasing racial and other attacks on people of Indian origin living across the world.

General Americans however reacted sportingly. “Happy to share this. Remember her name (Esmi Armendarez Upton) and her face. Also remember that she is, by her own admission, an immigrant, i.e., Mexican American yet she obviously doesn’t understand the irony of her actions” said Carol Deschambers @CDeschambault
