An annual observance, International day of Tolerance was observed on this day across the World… Declared by UNESCO in the year 1995 to mark the 125th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, this day was created as a prize for the promotion of tolerance and non-violence…

The day emphasizes respect and appreciation of the rich variety of our World’s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human… Also, it recognizes the universal human rights and fundamental freedom of others… This is because, people are naturally diverse ; only tolerance can ensure the survival of mixed communities in every region of the World…

The International Day of Tolerance was commemorated by Algerian Postal Administration with the release of a postage stamp in the year 2002.
